I am reminded again that this threesome is the most erotic I’ve painted

Sorting out my artwork to go onto an online art gallery this week I have I debated with myself as to whether I actually want to sell this painting or not…

Every time I look at it, I feel that it is the most erotic painting I’ve ever done.

And the strange thing is, all the people in it are dressed. Plus you can only see them from shoulder height. So, no nakedness, no rudeness, no naughty parts. But what I love about this painting is the expectations of what WILL happen next.

It features a man, and two women. He is standing closely behind one of the women, and she is leaning back slightly against him with her eyes closed in sensual pleasure. One of his hands is by her neck gently caressing her. They are wearing decorative carnival masks, which for me makes the painting even more erotic, for that sense of hidden faces and of the erotic  secrets and pleasures that evokes.  The painting is called “Masked passions” for that reason.

But, there is a third person in the painting. Another woman, and even though she isn’t touching either of the other two, she is absolutely captivated with what the other two are doing. She can see their bodies, their hands, their interaction, and the way they are reacting to each other. And she is watching their faces, particularly the other woman.

But its what she will do next that for me makes the painting more erotic. Will she just stand and watch as a voyeur, then walk away. Will she ask the man to do the same to her as he is doing to the other woman. Will she dismiss him all together and interact more with the other woman. Will she touch either of them, in a caress, or something far more sexual. Will she kiss either of them? Or neither. Will she drag them off to a bedroom and spend the night in a passionate sexual threesome.

And this is why this painting is so erotic. There are so many permutations, you could look at it a dozen times and come up with a fresh erotic twist to it each time…
