Its been a faffy week this week, one of those weeks when you know you’ve been really busy but haven’t got done everything you want doing.
I’m still waiting for the ‘wedding picture’ to come back from the framers and then I can tell you all about it. This painting has been ongoing since last September and I’m just in the final week or so before it will be ready to go off to its new home. I’m not normally so coy about a painting its just that it’s a secret from the person who is paying for it regarding the subject matter, which is an unusual state for me to be in. Still, its the diversity of the clients who buy artwork from me that makes my job so interesting, let alone the subject matters themselves.
So, in the meantime I’ve been getting on with the acrylic of the erotic couple this week inbetween taking the car for a service and spending most of Monday not doing something that I should have been working on through a lack on communication on someone else’s part that kept me loitering in a place I didn’t want to be. Still, they put the problem right on Thursday and the car is noticely driving better so its been worth the faff to get it right again. Its difficult to keep the car tracking straight though when the roads are so full of pot holes and soemetimes inavoidable to hit them so I don’t know how long it will last….
But on a more postive noteI feel I’ve made a new friend this week as well, which is always nice. I’ve been in his company twice recently and had the joy of receiving an unexpected email in the week from him saying how much he and his lady enjoyed chatting to me. They both have a jolly love of life that I always enjoy being in the company of, so its nice that they like my company too. I know they have looked at my website and like the artwork on it and similar to many people who like art they are intrigued with how some of it was done. His question was tactfully respectul though when he asked me….
“I did also have a question about the art pics of the intimate parts of a lady. How does the end piece compare to the original pic? Is it obvious if you have them side by side. Please don’t think I am asking for original shots but I was curious.”
To which I smiled and replied that the paintings are exactly the same in the drawing as the close-up photograph. They are anatomically correct, and it is very obvious when you have them side by side BUT the colours are really vivid and as I look at the photo I might see a hint of yellow within the skin tone but will paint a bright yellow in that place in the painting. Another place might have slight texture within the skin but I will exaggerate it to hide the image within the abstract of the painting. For me the whole point of these “Fantasy Fanny” paintings is to hide the image within the colours but know that it is exactly the same as the line drawing I started with from the photo. I don’t know if he is thinking about having one done of his girlfriend or just interested in them, as most men are. I would quite happily paint those abstracts all the time, I love them for the vibrancy of life, and the joke within the artwork in that they are portraits but not of faces!
And thinking about it, I’ve made another connection this week with someone I used to know some years ago who has resurfaced in my life via Facebook. He’s also an artist and is sending me links to some really interesting arty pages, ones with dragons and fairy folk, gothic darkness and cosmic light. Fascinating stuff, just the sort of thing to get me inspired and excited 🙂
