Being wicked

I’ve spent all this week thinking. Nothing wrong in that. I do it a lot! But I haven’t been producing. And that’s frustrating for me. I like to produce artwork on a constant level. It feeds the momentum of my creativity. But this week I’ve had to think……. deeply……about how I’m best going to do the erotic landscape responding to the request of dj kirkby. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy when I accepted the offer, and also I haven’t seen any other erotic art from any other artist elsewhere, to use as a starting point. There are some pieces, but not in the style that I want to use, or with a fully erotic couple as opposed to a couple kissing in the clouds or something equally tame. So, I’m having to start from scratch. I’ve started with looking at entwined erotic couples and trying to work out how to make them look like a landscape. And, so far, there seems to me to be three ways of doing it, any of which would work ok as a concept – I can either paint the couple in the shades of a landscape, so their bodies would be the greens of fields, and by adding a sky above, they would instantly look like a landscape, and the viewers eye would accept the deception quite happily. Or I could paint them using the details of a landscape as their features, for example utilising trees for hands, shrubs for hair, rocks for nipples, and I think that would work nicely too. Or I could paint a forest and in the foreground paint an old and twisted tree incorporating the entwined couple within the aged bark and hide them nicely there. All good ideas, and my quick drawings show me that they all would work in principal…. And I’m itching to get going on the designs now, and would ideally like to spend tomorrow working on it. But I put my name down a few weeks ago to attend an artists workshop. So I’ve got to attend that instead. Damn! And I’d forgotten what the workshop was about (as I go to a lot, to pick up new tips and learn new ways of painting). So, this morning I found the paperwork and after perusing it………….burst out laughing!!!!! The workshop is “Mountains and lakes in acrylic” – great!!! perfect!!! But the best bit is that the tutor “will be demonstrating how to use Acrylics as watercolour with emphasis on developing YOUR OWN skill and YOUR OWN individual painting style”. Oh……… How wonderfully BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!

……So……………………..whilst all the other workshop attendees will be busy working on their skies, trees and rocks, there will be me, working out how to incorporate a naked couple having vigorous sex within the structure of the painting!!!!! ……… I CAN’T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been an artist all of my life, and my paintings now hang on walls in Europe, USA and Canada. I'm working on getting them on the other continents! My wide range of artwork has been exhibited nearer to home in the East Midlands, with the Guild of Erotic Artists at Beaumont Hall Studios in Hertfordshire, and at "Erotica", Olympia, London. I have also been featured alongside my work in the Guild of Erotic Artists book (volume 2). I love to create dramatic interest in my pictures, whether it’s to paint an unusual landscape, or just to utilise dramatic lighting in my figure drawings or strong colour in my animal portraits. Delighting in the spontaneous tendencies of watercolour adds an interesting and distinctive look to my paintings, some of which are purposefully ambiguous, enabling the viewer to use their own interpretation of my artwork. I also love to hide images, and humour within my paintings, whether it’s a secret message, or an erotic couple hidden within a landscape, or even an erotic landscape where the couple are camouflaged as the features of the land itself. I am equally happy painting in oils, acrylics or watercolours and love to draw with pencil or ink. I have also developed the very effective method of drawing using white pencil on black card which creates dramatic pictures by just picking out where the light catches the body and leaving the rest of the image to the imagination, in darkness. I can also utilise many different styles, whether it is realistic, abstract, surrealistic, erotic, fantasy or camouflage art where something is hidden within the painting. I'm just passionate about my art, whatever I paint! But, it doesn't matter how many landscapes or pet portraits I paint, its always the erotic stuff that people are interested in! I started blogging to share some of the strange conversations I have with the people I meet. But its evolved into far more than that now.

Perhaps you underestimate the other participants, Jackie. They may well have their own secret messages to encode in the landscapes they want to paint.

But I’m confident you’ll come away from this workshop with some fresh ideas and new techniques to incorporate in your work.

Hardin – Oh, no, they don’t! I’ve met the majority of them before, and they’re very vanilla!

But, yes, I think I will come away from the workshop with fresh ideas, I always do!

Jackie, sometimes those “vanilla” people hold a molten core of rich, decadant chocolate just under the bland surface. I should know! LOL

Your ideas so far all sound amazing and I really am anxious to see what you come up with.

Nitebryd – Oh, I know they do, but until its shown to me, I presume all people are vanilla til their glorious decadent depths prove otherwise!!

I hope the reality of the paintings shows to be as amazing as the ideas, I’m itching to get going on the two erotic landscapes I’m working on – and hope they have glorious decadent depths also!!

God, I forgot what I was gonna say, reading the comments! lol

I immediately thought of a tree when you mentioned it, but like the sound of the mountain one.

Vi – Ah…. but are you vanilla on the outside and strawberry underneath (fragrant, fruity, fun and fresh)? OR are you strawberry on the outside with glorious decadent depths underneath the fruity exterior??!!

So how open minded is the tutor?

Having my cake – Not one iota, it was a very vanilla workshop, unfortunately. I learnt some interesting tips for landscapes but nothing for erotic landscapes… so, it looks like I’ll have to do it on my own!

Hi Jackie, I love the idea of option number two…’Or I could paint them using the details of a landscape as their features, for example utilising trees for hands, shrubs for hair, rocks for nipples, and I think that would work nicely too.’

P.S. would it help inspire you if I sent you some of the erotic stories I’ve had published? Might give you an idea of what goes on in my mind…

dj kirkby – Ok, I’ll work on that idea for you.

And yes, I’d love to read some of your erotic stories, they would greatly help to inspire me, thanks!
