I love walking by the sea in Whitstable in Kent, partly because its a joy to be by the sea and secondly the weather is always dramatic…even when you think the day is going to mild and clear!
On the day I arrived, it was sunny and warm the sea was calm and the horizon clear in the distance.

As I walked by the harbour area I could see the darker clouds full of rain in in the distance.

And the clouds looked even more threatening as I walked a little further, a good job I turned back at his point as it started to rain soon after and I had to find cover for a while in a local art gallery whilst I waited for the weather to clear, its always interesting to see other artists artwork in the galleries in Whitstable.

And a couple of hours later on after the rain had stopped I was able to take more photos of the rain in the distance

All these photos were taken on the same day, thats why I love the drama of the weather changing the photo and why being an artist is always so interesting to find the best way of depicting something simple like a coastal scene…
