A few years ago I was asked to paint a special painting of an angel with hidden pagan symbols within the painting. There was a lot of discussion about the right symbols to get the best meaning of love and hope within it. The painting is painted in acrylics on canvas (measuring 36 x 36 inches) using only black, white and red paint and there is a lot of texture within the white wings to add depth to the painting.
I’ve always loved this painting, because although it appears simple it was quite difficult to paint to get all the symbols hidden with it so they weren’t obvious but they were visible. Its called ‘Angel with red hair and pagan symbols’…….. how many of them do you recognise?
And the reason I am showing it here now? Is because the client who I painted it for has recently redecorated and they think it looks great in its new setting against a plain white wall, and I agree, it looks stunning there! I love it when a client I’ve painted a commission for shows me where my artwork is hanging on their wall…its always heart-warming to see it! A painting that I put so much of my artistic expertise into makes other people happy.
