Reflections of Christmas

Whenever I put up the Christmas tree, thinking of Christmas’s past, the memory of happier years when we could all mix together, I suppose its more poignant this year than any other, and we have to make the most of the celebration even if it is limiting and plans are not as hoped.

But as an artist I also love to see the pretty colours, and the small white lights, and the shapes they make as they interact with each other. I love the delicate glass icicles and the other glass baubles hanging on the tree, the dark exaggerating the tiny lights and reflections. And as I took the photos this year of the tree I was also totally enamoured with the reflections of the Christmas tree lights in the window and the darker silhouette of the trees in the garden against the blue of the winter night.

It makes me want to paint the abstract design of the close up of them.
