Chasing the erotic

Its been a while since I did a black and white drawing, well, one I was happy enough to show you anyway…………………!

But this week I’ve done one that I’m pleased with.

I know from past experience that if I don’t do regular drawing that my brain gets out of practice, and although I still know how to draw, its just a little bit harder to get the effect that would flow naturally when I paint and draw on an almost daily basis. That’s why its important to do life drawing, or at least to be drawing out images for a painting on a regular basis. But still, I am aware of that, and try to keep myself “taut” most of the time. Its only when things like holidays come along and I don’t do any artwork that I get like this…………………but with a bit of practice I’m back up to my normal flowing drawing level and the art is back to the level it should be……………….

So when I saw my model this week, I had an idea in my head for an image – it was of her lying with her back arched up and her head thrown back in abandon, probably with her hand at her breast or crotch. That was my plan.

She had other ideas.

She had backache.

Ok, then, well what CAN you do, if you can’t do that?” I asked.

And whilst we contemplated the pose problem, she pointed out that she had some new specs – I like them, and thought they suited her. As she took them off, the idea for the pose came to me! Yes!!!!! As a secretary, with a white shirt and black tie, her clothes undone, her bra on show, as she looked directly at the viewer and removed her specs……………..YES……………….that’ll work, and work well!!!

We set up the pose, I put on my favourite rock tracks, loud. The thumping music filled the room.

I started drawing, and yes, I knew instantly it would work, the image was a good one, the pose was good, there was enough black and white to make the image interesting, it was erotic, very erotic! I’d found it!!!!!!

And here it is………………….the image. There’s lots of lovely lines and contrasts in it, and I love the fact that some areas have more detail than others. I think the message gets across nicely. And the title? MMMm………………”Hot and bothered” …………….that describes it nicely, I think!!!! 🙂

I've been an artist all of my life, and my paintings now hang on walls in Europe, USA and Canada. I'm working on getting them on the other continents! My wide range of artwork has been exhibited nearer to home in the East Midlands, with the Guild of Erotic Artists at Beaumont Hall Studios in Hertfordshire, and at "Erotica", Olympia, London. I have also been featured alongside my work in the Guild of Erotic Artists book (volume 2). I love to create dramatic interest in my pictures, whether it’s to paint an unusual landscape, or just to utilise dramatic lighting in my figure drawings or strong colour in my animal portraits. Delighting in the spontaneous tendencies of watercolour adds an interesting and distinctive look to my paintings, some of which are purposefully ambiguous, enabling the viewer to use their own interpretation of my artwork. I also love to hide images, and humour within my paintings, whether it’s a secret message, or an erotic couple hidden within a landscape, or even an erotic landscape where the couple are camouflaged as the features of the land itself. I am equally happy painting in oils, acrylics or watercolours and love to draw with pencil or ink. I have also developed the very effective method of drawing using white pencil on black card which creates dramatic pictures by just picking out where the light catches the body and leaving the rest of the image to the imagination, in darkness. I can also utilise many different styles, whether it is realistic, abstract, surrealistic, erotic, fantasy or camouflage art where something is hidden within the painting. I'm just passionate about my art, whatever I paint! But, it doesn't matter how many landscapes or pet portraits I paint, its always the erotic stuff that people are interested in! I started blogging to share some of the strange conversations I have with the people I meet. But its evolved into far more than that now.

'Mmmm..Mmmm' I like it very much, 'phew' I'm gettin hot just lookin at her. I love the line that comes down from her neck to the shirt on the left hand side, the bit between her breasts just above her bra… Oh and the glasses are very classy!

For the uninitiated, like me, it is easy to not even consider the fact that you would need to practice, but of course drawing and painting are no different to any skills, it is a case of use them or lose them!

Sorry to hear about your models bad back and I hope she will soon be feeling better, as I know how she must be feeling and she did well to even turn up. These bad backs must be catching and you need to take care you don't get a reputation for being the erotic artist to those with bad backs! lol

It seems that even with her bad back you were both able to come up with a highly erotic drawing that looks amazing and it really does go to show that you do not require any nudity to create an image that is both very erotic and highly seductive. It certainly lives up to its "Hot and bothered" title!

Fitzy – Oh yes, I need to practice all the time, for the "use it or lose it" reason you state and also to keep my "eye" in with observing through creating artwork. And it always makes me feel happier too, when I do it, so when I don't do regular drawing I feel incomplete somehow.

The model didn't have a proper bad back as such, but was suffering a bit of backache from her activities during the day which is why she didn't want to aggravate it any more by the pose, but she was still able to hold the pose we did in the end, and I'm delighted you think it's highly erotic, thankyou.

I think full nudity is less erotic than partically clothed and this seems to prove the point if you think it's highly seductive!!! LOL

Pleased to hear your model is fine then, that is good news.

You are right about nudity not being required to make an image erotic, as following one of your recent posts there was much talk about what is hidden often being far more erotic than what we can actually see as it leaves so much to the imagination which must surely be the most erotic thing we all have.

I guess I will have to remember that for my future commissions!
