So delighted to be a part of it

The village I live in, Blue Bell Hill, in Kent is having a celebration party for The Queens Platinum Jubilee – 70 years on the throne and a major achievement, and one that is going to be a unique experience on our lifetime too! Its lovely that people can now have wonderful things to look forward to and be part of after two years of not being able to. There are I am sure similar events being planned all over the country…

A few weeks ago I was asked by one of the committee members arranging the party in the village if I would like to donate something for their raffle… as alot of the businesses were also being asked and it made sense for the raffle to be relevant for the business, so I had a look to see what I had and found something I felt would be ideal…

I told the committee member what it was and she was delighted, and then this week she sent me a message to say that she was ready to receive it this week in time for the celebrations at the beginning of June. I suggested a time and day and she agreed and I took it around to her. I’d not met her before, as our conversation had been via emails.

I knocked on her door, and introduced myself. and handed over my donation for the raffle prize which she asked if she could unwrap to view, and I agreed with a smile.. she loved it as I hoped she might…

And agreed with me that I thought it would suit most people – It was a pastel painting of ‘Orange poppies’ I’d put it in a cream mount behind glass and in a cream frame as I knew that would suit most peoples colour schemes, whether it was contemporay or more traditional. A bright cheerful painting and suitable for the summer celebration…

She thanked me for the donation and I said I was delighted to be of help.. we talked a bit about the village as I’ve only been here for 3 years and she for about 20, and I told her what a nice place it is to live in and be part of as far as I was concerned having moved here from Leicestershire..It was lovely to meet her and chat and I look forward to seeing her again at the village Platinum Jubilee party.. .
