Its nice when they pop up again unexpectedly

I’ve spent my life painting pictures, of a myriad of subjects and am always delighted when I sell a picture and it goes off to hang on someone elses wall to make them happy.

I remember the pictures of course, they are all special for me and a big part of me goes into the creation of them.

But I am always thinking of the next painting which means that the past ones are there in the background.. until they arise out of the blue…

As did one about a month ago.

I was contacted on my Facebook page from someone I didn’t know.. who said

“I’ve recently come into possession a watercolour by yourself called Roses.
I absolutely love it but as it was part of my parents estate I need a rough idea of its value, if you could help that would be great. xxx”

I thanked her for her message and said I was slightly perplexed about the watercolour called Roses that she referred to, and was it possible for her to send a photo of it there to me, so I could see it and give her more information regarding it.

I was pretty sure I knew which painting she was referring to, but wanted to check we were talking about the same thing…

She replied with a photo of the picture (of the one I was expecting to see!) and said

“Whoops, roses are red I believe. Sorry have 2 different ones, the other picture by another artist is called Roses.
Many Thanks”

I replied that that was the picture I thought she meant, it was the title that I was checking up on – yes indeed it is called “Roses are red” and its one of my favourites too. I told her the tea rooms it was sold via back in December 2003 and the amount, and hoped that helped, and if she wanted any more information, to please ask.

She gave me a lovely response, that really made me smile with pleasure..

“Thank you so much, just means I can keep it now but tell my brother how much it was worth so I can tally up my late parents estate.
It will be pride of place on my wall Xxx”

My reply to her was…

I am delighted you want to keep it, I’ve always loved it, and think its worked really well as a vibrant watercolour, especially with the red and cream mount, and red frame to set it off. Its good to see it again, too with your photo. I wish you many happy years of enjoyment with it. Kind regards Jackie

It’s good to revisit old friends.. 🙂
