Wonderfully uplifting feedback regarding my Happy Gardens paintings

Since I showed the new Happy Gardens paintings online I have received some really uplifting and wonderful feedback.. the high-lights of which I will share with you here….

“My first impression is that they are intriguing and I will need to view them many more times before I can give a definitive opinion of them. You know that is how my thought processes work.
To me the paintings are very restful and with a dreamlike quality executed in a vaguely mathematical manner.
I love them and that is on slight acquaintance.”

“They are beautifully relaxing and subdued I like them all”

“You are to be congratulated in producing a lovely set of garden paintings”

“My favourite four are 3,8,5 and 4. You’ve been busy. All the paintings have virtues and it is just a matter of taste and mood at the time. Tomorrow I will do it again without referring to todays placings. Statistically there are 40,320 combinations of the eight pieces so it is unlikely that my tomorrow’s list will be identical to todays.”

“Carry on the good work”

“love the happy note struck by number8. This is near the top. It seems to lift the spirit as on a warm summer day.”

“Although I have still not read the literary content, I have had another look at your garden pictures this morning. My favourite is “Scents of Lavender” maybe because lavender is my current favourite of plants in my garden. Perhaps I am being silly as I know little about art but these watercolours remind me of Helen Allingham’s work, albeit Helen’s was from the 19th.century.”

“You certainly a talented and innovative artist with such wonderful ideas.”

“They’re wonderful! What struck me first about them was the consistent colour theme throughout. The deep shades of green, the vibrant purples, the tans of the walkways and the white accents you used are recognizable from painting to painting, lending a sense of continuity. Another consistent theme is the presence of water features in each composition. Ponds are a calming influence, especially when lily pads are floating on them. The third consistent theme is the absence of people. The viewer isn’t being thrust into a social situation. He or she is invited (by the paths that lead the eye into each composition) to explore each space alone, standing or sitting on one of those inviting benches, or (as you wrote) inviting someone special to share the experience with you.I was very much reminded of the garden at your former home, and when I looked at my photos I saw the strong resemblance to the paintings, particularly (of course) the koi pond, but also the orderly arrangement of the plants, the bright foliage and the sense that someone cared very deeply about the sanctuary the garden created.Lovely paintings that would fill a blank wall quite nicely!”

“Well what can I say. Just back after a long and stressful day when open this link. Jackie Adshead what beautiful gardens. I’d totally agree this medium has really allowed you to get a vibrancy that strikes you as you ‘move’ around the garden. I could easily envisage sat with a good book and large glass of something whilst listening to the water and smelling all the scents. Lovely project xxx”
