Even when there is nothing theres some thing under it propping it up

Sometimes it seems there is nothing to write about. But  then I have a bit of a think and know there is always something. No day or week is without something that is part of art for me, or a permutation to it, useful, and to be written about here!

Yesterday I finished writing my notes for the WI talk coming up soon. It makes sense, it flows as a subject and hopefully will be interesting and intriguing to those listening to it. It will be new to them, and whatever their interests in life, there will be something that should be something they want to hear. It’s not like the subject matter isn’t interesting just on its own! So now I have to learn it, not parrot fashion, just in a way that is easy to converse whilst telling the group.

I haven’t got on so well with the latest important painting this week due to various distractions of my time and energies, but the only visitor to the house today is fascinated in my latest picture and the way it is progressing. It intrigues her to see the way it evolves from a simple idea to something that has quite a fantasy slant to it. I love fantasy but whether others will so much too, is open to discussion. All art has something of fantasy about it, unless its a complete copy of a photograph, and there is no point in doing that, is there.

And yesterday I also Ashby town 2 (2)agreed to do something I did last year, and really enjoyed doing.  It is time consuming, and there is no payment for it, but I loved the experience of doing it last year. Its a great community project and its good to do those every so often, if it helps others. And this year it will be easier as I know how to do it now. I know how to decide on a simple but effective design, work out the tones so that it has impact, and painting big is always a great experience. Although the subject matter isn’t quite so inspiring for me this year, doing the Ashby de la Zouch art board again for the towns Arts Festival is something I happily look forward to. And the theme this year? Is Ashby itself. Either past or present, with either buildings,  or people, or events as suggestions. There is one thought though that is something that I’d like to do more than any other, and usually gut reaction is the best one to go with for an idea! It relies on one subect that I absolutely love, both in a fiction and historical sense. Anyone knowing Ashby-de-la-Zouch, and me, will know exactly what that is……………! 🙂   Can you guess? 🙂
