Its funny when I write about the art I paint what reactions I get to it. Sometimes I might get a couple of comments. Sometimes I get no response to the pictures. I know that not everyone will like what I’ve done, or at least like it but not enough to tell me about it. But the picture I did this week has had a surprising response, at least for me. I hadn’t realised what a response it would create, since as far as I am concerned, any art I do has a good quality to it – regardless of the subject matter. But it seems that drawing a naked man with an erection has brought in a strong urge for contact. All with the same message. And all from men. Offering their services as a male model. Now, whereas that’s really nice to know that my art is admired it shows me that the artwork is secondary to the idea that posing naked for a woman artist, is the main interest. Men don’t normally email me to offer their favourite tree to be drawn for example! Note to anyone out there – I’ll happily draw your favourite oak tree for you. I’ll even hide erotic images in it to make it more exciting!
As a working artist, I love drawing all subjects, and the commission I did this week was treated in the same way by me that I treat doing pet portraits or a landscape. The guy posing for me who is a life drawing model and had chosen the pose he wanted to be in was in agony for a lot of it, as the muscles in his leg had ceased up. I think people think that if they pose in the nude its going to feel erotic, and it rarely does.
I know I have a talent for painting, and have worked hard at creating good artwork. If the artwork is erotic then that’s fine. I love leaving something to the imagination, that’s what erotic art is about. For me its a far more sensual thing that is hinted at.

Now, to prove my point 🙂 – this picture of mine is called “Masked passions” and for me its far more erotic than a naked man. And its all down to the look on the faces that make it so, particularly the woman in the gold mask on the right. You can see that all three of them are dressed, but its up to your imagination as to what they are doing, and more to the point what they are going to do next. That is what makes it erotic. Will the woman in the gold mask want to join them? Or is she happy just to watch? Will she ask the man to do the same to her? Or will she want to do what he is doing? Or will she go and find a man of her own? There are many permutations to this…….. and that’s why I love it so much.
